Barbell Bench Press
Your feet are shifting and lifting off the floor during the heavy part of the press.
“I think this weight is probably a little too heavy for me so I didn’t control the descending that well”
What the coach saw
At the bottom of the movement, your heels are elevated and your feet are tucked very far back. As you press the weight up, your left foot visibly slides and loses contact with the ground, which indicates a lack of stable leg drive. Maintaining a solid connection with the floor throughout the entire range of motion will provide a more stable platform to push from.
Try this next set
Plant your feet firmly on the floor and drive your heels down before you unrack the bar. Keep your legs under tension so your feet do not move at all during the rep.
