Why do my hips shoot up when I deadlift?
Upload one set of deadlifts and see whether your hips rise first and whether the bar leaves your legs, then the one fix for your next pull.
Check my deadlift freeNo signup. Your video stays on your phone; only a few frames are analyzed.
What the check looks at
- 1Hips rise firstWhether your hips come up before the bar leaves the floor.
- 2Bar away from shinsWhether the bar drifts away from your shins and thighs on the way up.
Each one comes back as looks right, adjust, or can't judge. Never a score, and never a number nothing measured. You get the one thing to change on your next set.
How to film it
- 1Any angle works. From the side shows the bar against your shins most clearly.
- 2Keep the plates from blocking your hips: step the phone slightly in front of you.
- 3Film the whole set, including the setup before the first pull.
